Open space protection is important. It helps us maintain the quality of life that we enjoy here in Gvl Co. To do that I think Gvl Co should have first right of refusal on properties up for tax sale versus going to out of town organizations that collect properties in order to make a profit. Protecting these properties our quality life, our infrastructure, and our cost of living.

Councilman Blount,

I think we should definitely have impact fees on new development, especially if the developer is out of state. So many developers are profiting from their development while we tax payers are burdened with the infrastructure costs associated with the development.

Thanks for the news letter starting to talk about the county budget. Consider this time around that the County Budget is a zero base budget complete with minimum expense, expected expense and why the expected expense and is tracked monthly with a variance discussion. Limit budget transfers to an amount above which county council has to make the approval. For a budget like the county's, if this was a business,, it would be limited to $100K and also based on aggregate transfers. Make the budget an annual one and focus on items that are in urgent need and not "nice to have". For example does the county need to fund a bus service that may be useful in densely populated areas like the city, but has only one or two riders in the suburbs of the county. Where does the added revenue the county gets from organic growth end up. I understand this is approximately an 8 to 11% revenue increase every year. That's about a $30 million increase every year.
