Concerning road construction, a week or so ago Ch 7, I think it was, did a story about a relatively small bridge which was washed out near a "vital" healthcare business in Spartanburg County. Apparently a temporary bridge is being quickly constructed but the permanent bridge will cost at least $1 million and take at least a year to construct; that's pathetic, unless you are one of the many bureaucrats who feed off such projects.
As a matter of fact, for more than 2 years either the state or Greenville County has been inching their way to the eventual replacement of a small bridge on Keeler Mill Road. Word is it will take at least a year. I remember in 1994 the Northridge Earthquake destroyed a good portion of LA's interstate system yet a year later it was all repaired. It cost a lot but it also demonstrated such jobs don't actually require a lot of time, just competent over-site.
